Fishing is an outdoor activity that too often gets left out of the Physical Education curriculum. Learn how easy and fun it is to incorporate fishing into your standards based curriculum, even if your school’s resources are limited. During this session, you will learn how to teach all things fishing through the use of active learning games and activities, how to incorporate technology, and meaningfully assess student ability. The presentation will show all the different learning activities used to teach and assess students on the following elements: identify common fishing equipment and fish, how to cast, maintain safety, deal with invasive species, and the rules and regulations for fishing in Iowa.
